General terms of service
Magnum Helicopters (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides helicopter sightseeing tours and related services on Oahu, Hawaii. By making a booking, visiting our website, or contacting us, you acknowledge that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal authority to enter into this agreement. All tours are subject to aircraft availability, pilot availability, weather conditions, safety considerations, and applicable regulations. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for safety or operational reasons.
Operating days and check‑in
- Flights generally operate daily; however, schedules vary with demand and maintenance needs. We fly only when all four seats in the aircraft are sold . If we are unable to fill a flight, we will contact you to reschedule or offer a full refund .
- You must check in 45 minutes before your scheduled flight time . Late arrival may be treated as a no‑show.
- The tour lasts approximately 50 minutes ; you should budget additional time for check‑in, briefing and post‑flight procedures.
Equipment and seating
- Our standard tour uses the doors‑off MD 500 series helicopter made famous by Magnum P.I.; occasionally a different MD‑500 may be used if maintenance or scheduling requires it .
- We offer Open Seating or First Class seating. Open seating is assigned by our staff to balance the helicopter . First Class seats guarantee the two front seats; they must be purchased as a pair and the combined weight of the two passengers may not exceed 340 lbs . Parties of three or four must have at least two passengers with a combined weight under 340 lbs to accommodate the front seats; otherwise the group may be split into separate flights or asked to purchase an additional seat .
- For safety and balance reasons, seating assignments are made at check‑in; we do not guarantee specific seats and requests cannot always be accommodated .
Age and accessibility
- Minimum age: The minimum age to fly is 10 years . Children aged 10 to 14 must sit next to a responsible adult ; no lap children are allowed and each person must wear a seat belt .
- Accessibility: Our helicopters are not wheelchair accessible. Passengers must be able to climb three stairs to board .
Personal items and attire
- Only one camera or phone per person is allowed, and devices must have a secure strap. Straps are available for purchase . No hats, purses or bags are permitted, and all pockets must be empty .
- Wear closed‑toed shoes; sandals without heel straps will be removed and stored . Long hair should be tied back , and a light jacket or windbreaker is recommended since the aircraft is doors‑off and temperatures can be 10–15 °F cooler at altitude .
2. Bookings, payments and pricing
- Reservations: All tours must be booked in advance through our online booking system or directly with our staff. When you book, you will be asked to choose Open Seating or First Class seats; seat assignments are finalized on the day of the flight .
- Payment: A valid credit or debit card is required to secure your reservation. Prices are shown in U.S. dollars and are subject to change until your booking is confirmed. Taxes, fees and surcharges will be disclosed at the time of booking.
- Capacity surcharges: To comply with aircraft weight and balance limitations, passengers over 250 lbs may be subject to a capacity fee, and passengers over 300 lbs may need to purchase an additional seat . We reserve the right to verify passenger weights at check‑in. Providing inaccurate weight information may result in additional fees, seating changes or denial of boarding without refund.
3. Cancellations, changes and no‑shows
Guest cancellations
- You may cancel or modify your reservation up to 48 hours before your scheduled departure time for a full refund . (If your booking was made through a third‑party agent, their cancellation policy may differ .)

Operator changes or cancellations
- We may cancel, reschedule or modify a tour due to weather, air‑traffic control, aircraft maintenance, pilot availability, safety considerations or other operational reasons at our sole discretion . If we cancel and cannot reschedule, we will refund amounts paid for the affected portion of your service . We are not responsible for additional costs, such as travel, accommodation or other expenses incurred due to cancellations or delays.
- Magnum Helicopters flies only when all four seats are filled; if your flight is not full, we will contact you to reschedule or offer a full refund .
4. Weather, safety and pilot authority
- All flights are subject to weather and safety conditions as determined by the pilot‑in‑command and federal regulations. We may fly in some rain and wind; our crew monitors conditions closely and will cancel if visibility or safety is compromised .
- The pilot has full authority over the aircraft and may refuse boarding, adjust the route, alter flight time or terminate a flight at any time for safety or operational reasons. We may, at our discretion, offer partial refunds or credits if a tour is shortened or modified for safety reasons.
- We provide a safety briefing before each flight; guests must follow all crew instructions and wear provided restraints and headsets at all times.
5. Weight limits, health and eligibility
- Individual weight: Passengers over 250 lbs may be charged a capacity fee, and those over 300 lbs may be required to purchase an additional seat . For parties of two in First Class, the combined weight may not exceed 340 lbs . For groups of three or four, at least two passengers must have a combined weight below 340 lbs to sit in the front seats .
